Everyone should have equal and equitable access to learning. This module provides learning designers with the knowledge and responsibility to create accessible experiences, addressing common barriers caused by visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive impairments.

Learning objectives

When you have completed the learning in this module and successfully completed the learning activities, you will be able to do the following tasks.

     Identify who can benefit from accessible learning and why accessibility is important.

     Understand the principles of accessible learning guidelines, specifically the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and its four core principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.

     Recognise different types of impairments (visual, hearing, motor, cognitive) that can impact learning.

     Describe the obstacles users with various impairments might face in learning environments.

     Apply strategies and design considerations to make online learning content accessible for users with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive impairments.

     Utilise tools and resources that aid in creating accessible learning experiences.
