When you complete Elevate to Applied Learning, your certificate is upgraded from Completion to Applied, giving a richer story of your learning journey.
How it works
Elevate to Applied Learning bridges theory and practice. You will apply what you’re learning in your own workplace by submitting real examples of your work and how you’ve used new skills in context.
An experienced learning designer then:
- Reviews your submissions
- Provides personalised written feedback
- Meets with you online to discuss progress, challenge your thinking, and help refine your approach
It's practical, supportive, and tailored to your real-world work.
What you will need to submit
Each pathway has clear submission requirements so you know exactly what to provide to achieve the Applied certificate.
Core skills
The Career Changer’s pathway includes the ten Professional Growth core courses plus two additional job-seeking courses.
If you complete the two job seeking courses: Create a learning design portfolio and Interview Tips and Hints, Skillbuilder
offers a free review of:
- Your target job description
- Your learning design portfolio
We’ll review your submission and provide feedback to support your job search.
Applied certificate option
If you want an Applied certificate to strengthen your appeal to prospective employers, you can complete the Elevate to Applied requirements from the Professional Growth pathway.
You will need to submit the following and receive feedback to achieve the applied level:
1. A diagram of the learning and development process that you work to
2. Write a paragraph to describe your role and how it fits in with the wider team. A clear job description for your role should accompany the paragraph.
3. Submit an action map of your chosen project to show what the content will cover
4. Write are least four learning objectives based on the BSC model for objectives.
5. Outline and storyboard for your chosen project
6. Write one paragraph to explain how you have addressed both copyright in your intended module and how it will be accessible to individuals who learning differently.
How to purchase
You can buy the feedback module upfront and submit each item as you progress through the courses.
If you have already done the courses and now want to level up to the Applied certificate, that’s easy too. Just purchase the Elevate to Applied item and upload the relevant documents.
Core skills
If you complete the ten courses in this pathway, you can add Elevate to Applied and select a real project you are working on (or have completed) to demonstrate how you applied your learning.
To achieve Applied level, you will submit:
- A diagram of the learning and development process you follow
- A short paragraph describing your role and how it fits within your wider team, plus your job description
- An action map for your chosen project
- At least four learning objectives using the BSC model
- An outline and storyboard for your project
- A short paragraph explaining how you addressed copyright and accessibility in your module

If you have already done the courses and now want to level up to the Applied certificate, that’s easy too. Just purchase the Elevate to Applied product and upload the relevant documents.
Core skills
If you complete the five courses in this pathway, you can add personalised feedback to upgrade your certificate from Completion to Applied.
To achieve Applied level, you will submit:
- A diagram of your learning and development process
- A list of staff involved in learning design and development, showing how roles and responsibilities are covered
- A copy of your eLearning guidelines
- A scoping template or project brief
- An example costing from a real project.
