The Career Changer's Pathway

Thinking about a move into learning and development? You are in the right place.

Whether you are coming from HR, facilitation, communications, teaching, or a completely different field, this pathway is designed to help you build strong foundations in learning design and development. It gives you practical skills, clear frameworks, and real-world guidance to help you step confidently into a new direction.

What you can learn

You do not need to start from scratch. You already bring valuable experience, perspective, and transferable skills. These courses help you translate what you know into learning design practice, building capability step by step while developing a clear understanding of how effective learning is created.


When you are ready to begin the Career Changer Pathway, there are around ten to twelve modules to work through, covering core learning design concepts and practical techniques such as:

Achieve Core skills (Completion)

For each module completed, you will be awarded a Core Skills electronic badge.

If you complete all modules in the pathway, you will also receive a Core Skills certificate (Completion), recognising your learning journey and commitment to developing your capability.

Achieve Core skills (Applied)

If you would like to demonstrate competency rather than completion, you can choose to have your real work reviewed through our Elevate to Applied Learning module.

Once a reviewer is satisfied that you understand and can apply the core principles across the pathway, you will be awarded an applied certificate. This requires purchasing an Elevate to Applied Learning module and submitting examples of your own work.

Take advantage of the 'pick-and-mix' approach

Some or all of the modules in the Learning and Development Manager pathway would be a fantastic starting point, and working with one of our learning designers to level up to Platinum would be amazing, but we also offer you the opportunity to mix and match online training with personal training, coaching and mentoring.

You may already be very capable in learning design and could have a few years of experience under your belt. When you look at these modules, you may wonder if you need to start from the beginning, or are there just a few specific things that you want to work on.

Book in for some tailored and specific 1-on-1 specific training. This will be time and money well-spent.
